What Is Computerized Cosmetic Dentistry?
“Computerized” dentistry is less familiar. It refers to the use of technologically advanced dental equipment and materials: lasers, intra oral cameras, digital x-rays, air abrasion and the like, all of which can be handled in a one-stop single visit. It combines speed, accuracy and preservation to improve patient comfort and health. “Computerized cosmetic dentistry” is practiced by Stuart Ross DMD of Washington DC. He is a former President of the Academy of Computerized Dentistry and a senior trainer of other dentists in the use of high tech equipment. Dr. Ross was an “early adopter” of computer-based advances in modern dental techniques. In particular, he uses the Siemens-developed CEREC System (SIRONA) in which high-strength ceramic material is milled under precise computer control. Result: Less drilling.
